”The gambler – Life..”

11 Dec ”The gambler – Life..”

”On a warm summer’s eve
On a train bound for nowhere
I met up with the gambler
We were both too tired to sleep
So we took turns a-starin’
Out the window at the darkness
‘til boredom overtook us,
And he began to speak

He said; Son, I’ve made a life
Out of readin’ people’s faces
Knowin’ what the cards were
by the way they held their eyes
So if you don’t mind me sayin’
I can see you’re out of aces
For a taste of your whiskey
I’ll give you some advice”

So much nostalgia for me in this song.
I Remember sitting high up in my daddys truck, higher than everyone else on the road.
I loved sitting there, looking at my daddy as he was driving, his strong hands on the stering wheel, him looking up at me now and then smiling. I remember feeling proud, feeling loved and safe in my his presence.
We would listen to country songs over and over again. ”The gambler” with Kenny Rogers was always a favourite.
It still teaches me things today, about life;

”you’ve got to know when to hold’em,
know when to fold’em,
know when to walk away
and know when to run.”

&  ”the secret to survivin’
is knowin’ what to throw away
and knowin’ what to keep
‘Cause every hand’s a winner
And every hand’s a loser..”

Don’t stay if you’re heart isn’t there. Dare to walk away from whatever doesn’t sit right with you.
New moon tonight. Keep positive, know what you want to keep in your life and know what it is now time to throw away.. ✨✨✨
